The Difference

Next time you think you need to hide your light to make someone else feel better-

Remember, your difference… however unusual, “not normal,” and not like anyone else is… may just be what the world really needs right now.

It may be that you are the person who makes all the difference to someone else. You could be their lifeline- just by being an example, just by being you.

I spent years hiding my light…to fit in, to be liked, and accepted.

I knew I was always different- I was ashamed of that.

Never belonging.  Never fitting in the cliques- Work cliques, school cliques, all cliques! I was never a product of someone else’s ideals, but I felt compassion, but hiding my light helped no one.

I tried to be invisible. I was always hiding my light to be accepted- but I still encountered haters. By hiding my light, I won’t make it any easier on the people who hate me. The only way they will shine is by seeing themselves and looking in the mirror-not by me hiding who I am or diminishing my own light.

I know they only hated me because they weren’t willing to look at themselves.

I decided to shine in spite of everyone else.

We all have crosses to bear- just because I don’t discuss mine- doesn’t mean it’s not there. Or, the crosses don’t exist for me.

I need to accept the fact that I have to shine-shine bright- in spite of everyone else.
